This one is a bit different than most of the other ones. It’s a little more tongue-in-cheek. I’m not saying that anyone should ever try to get rid of those habits, but it is easier to give them up rather than try to get them back.
Why? Because once the habits go, they’re not going to come back, and they will be hard to get back. But it is much easier to get rid of those habits than to get them back.
I think part of the reason is that we have this idea in our heads about what people who are self-aware do. Most people think that they are good at hiding their feelings for a long time, but in reality most people think that they are good at hiding from themselves. Im not saying that you should never hide, but it is easier to hide when youre not yourself.
I think the problem is that we have a tendency to view this person as if she is a perfect example of a self-aware person. It feels good to think that way, but it is the wrong way to think about self-awareness. You should be willing to look at yourself and think if she makes sense or not.
As a self-aware person, you would probably be aware that your actions are likely to upset someone. In the same way that I would be aware of the presence of an angry animal, I am also aware that I might kill someone. I don’t have to be the killer to be a good person.
Self-awareness is not just a matter of thinking you are a good person. It is a matter of thinking you are a good person. For instance, the world is a messy place and I am aware that I am messy. This isn’t a bad thing, it is just a fact. But it is a fact about me that I am aware of how messy and bad it is. This is a kind of self-awareness I would call “unaware”.
