I am a believer that we can all learn to become more self-aware and self-reliant, and that’s the goal, anyway. We get to decide how to apply that to our lives. In that spirit, I’ve been trying to get myself to take a look at what I do when I want to be more conscious and aware of myself.
I am in the habit of keeping a journal, and I have been thinking about what I do and how it relates to the way I should be. At the end of every day I do a quick analysis to see how I’m doing in life. This week, I’m going to focus on my relationships, because it’s hard to keep track of all the people you hang out with.
Ive been thinking about how to better “know” myself, and why I do certain things. That’s a bit different than journaling, but its the same idea really. Being aware is about being aware. We’ve all got the ‘self’s that we have internalized, and by being aware you are aware… we’re aware that in order to be on top of our lives we need to take care of ourselves.
Like many people, Clarebear has a lot of self-awareness. For example, she can remember that her sister was killed in a car accident a few years ago. She also remembers a lot about her own mother. So Clarebear knows herself, and her mother, a lot. But also knows that her friends have a lot of self-awareness. If Clarebear tells them about the accident, they know exactly who to tell.
Clarebear can remember her mother’s last name, which is why she’s able to find the address of her mother’s funeral. But she can’t find her sister’s name. Apparently she was in a car crash, but the accident didn’t kill her sister. Clarebear needs to go to her sister’s funeral, and she needs to ask her about the accident.
Clarebear says that her sister was in a car accident, that shes not in the hospital, and that her sister isnt even dead. So why was Clarebear told that her sister was dead? Clarebear has a lot of self-awareness, and she knows what she must do.
Clarebear is able to get her sisters name by searching through the address book in her room. But she cant find her sisters name, so she searches through her friend’s address book. And her friend’s name isnt Clarebear’s sister’s name. So she tries her sister’s sisters name, and her sister’s sisters name isnt Clarebear’s sister’s name.
I can’t tell if Clarebear is really aware of what she’s doing, but if she is, then she’s much better prepared to do it than most people. I think Clarebear’s self-awareness actually has a lot to do with why she is the way she is, and that she’s not just being self-aware to be a badass. It’s not a bad thing to always try to figure out who you are in the moment, because it actually makes you stronger.
Clarebear is my favorite character in the game. She’s an incredibly strong, smart, capable character who wants to be more than just a sister. She’s a badass in a way that most people would not be able to be.
